Suzuki has pulled the wraps off the facelifted XL7 at the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), and this reveal matters a great deal for buyers back home in India. Since the XL7 and the Maruti Suzuki XL6 share the same platform, engine, and overall design language, this Indonesia-spec update effectively serves as a preview of the mid-life refresh headed to Indian showrooms.
What’s New on the Outside
The most noticeable change sits up front. Suzuki has ditched the current model’s two-tier grille setup, a large upper section paired with a smaller lower unit, in favour of a single-piece grille that’s both taller and wider, giving the MPV a bolder, more upright stance. The unit is now finished almost entirely in black, with chrome reserved just for the Suzuki badge, lending it a sportier, more modern look compared to the outgoing car’s chrome-heavy treatment. Sharper headlights, a redesigned front bumper, reworked fog lamp housings, new alloy wheel designs, and blacked-out tail lamps round out the exterior updates. Depending on the variant, buyers may get black or black-and-chrome dual-tone wheel finishes.
Inside the Cabin
Cabin changes are arguably the bigger story here. The dashboard gains a new trim insert called Metallic Hagane Dark Silver, replacing the older finish. Every variant of the Indonesia-spec XL7 now comes with a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Suzuki has also paired this with an updated sound-processing setup from audio specialist Arkamys, a brand already familiar to Indian buyers, since top-spec XL6 variants currently use Arkamys tuning.
Other expected additions for the India-spec model include ventilated front seats, an improved 360-degree camera system, an enhanced head-up display, and possibly a new digital instrument cluster similar to the one seen in the India-spec Victoris. Features already available on the current XL6 automatic climate control with rear blower control, connected-car tech, six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, and a dashcam-style DVR are expected to carry over as well.
Powertrain: No Surprises Here
Don’t expect any mechanical shake-up. The facelifted XL7 continues with Suzuki’s proven 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing around 103bhp and 136-138Nm of torque. In India, this is likely to be offered with the familiar five-speed manual or six-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox choices, alongside a CNG variant with an underbody tank mirroring what the current XL6 offers. Indonesia gets the option of a four-speed automatic instead of the six-speed unit sold in India, so expect some regional variation in transmission tuning.
India Launch Timeline and Rivals
Maruti Suzuki hasn’t officially confirmed a launch date for the XL6 facelift, but industry reports suggest a debut ahead of this year’s festive season, a window the brand has historically used to capture heightened consumer demand. Once launched, the updated XL6 will go up against increasingly feature-rich rivals like the Kia Carens Clavis, and to an extent, the Toyota Rumion and Hyundai Alcazar. The current XL6 is priced between roughly Rs 11.52 lakh and Rs 14.48 lakh, and the facelift is likely to command a modest premium given the added technology.
For India’s growing premium MPV segment, this refresh isn’t about reinventing the XL6; it’s about sharpening its styling and catching up on tech, giving Maruti Suzuki a stronger footing against newer, more loaded competitors.
