Bugatti has revealed its latest one-off creation, the Destrier, and it is another reminder of just how far the French marque can go when exclusivity becomes the priority. Created through Bugatti’s ultra-exclusive Programme Solitaire, the Destrier is a bespoke hypercar built for a single customer. It combines the extreme mechanical package of the Bolide with a much more elegant and luxurious design.
Based on the Extreme Bugatti Bolide
The Bugatti Destrier shares its carbon-fibre monocoque and core engineering with the track-focused Bolide. However, Bugatti has completely reworked the exterior to give the one-off hypercar a more sophisticated character.
Instead of the Bolide’s aggressive aerodynamic surfaces and enormous rear wing, the Destrier gets smoother bodywork, sculpted surfaces, and a more integrated rear wing. The design also features a larger horseshoe grille, vertical LED tail-lights, and four centrally positioned exhaust outlets.
The hypercar sits extremely low to the ground, measuring around one metre in height. Its proportions and detailing are inspired partly by medieval armour and warhorses, which also connect with the meaning of the Destrier name.
1,600hp From a Quad-Turbo W16 Engine
Under the bodywork sits Bugatti’s legendary 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged W16 engine. The power output is rated at 1,578hp, although it is commonly referred to as a 1,600hp engine. This makes the Destrier one of the most powerful combustion-engined creations in Bugatti’s current line-up.
The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the carbon-fibre construction keeps the hypercar focused on performance. Unlike the Bolide, however, the Destrier puts much greater emphasis on craftsmanship and exclusivity rather than outright track aggression.
A Completely Bespoke Interior
The interior is just as special as the exterior. Bugatti has used brown leather, nubuck, 3D-knitted textiles, and copper-infused threads to create a cabin unlike anything found in a regular production Bugatti.
Several interior components feature hammered-metal finishes, adding to the handcrafted appearance. The approach is clearly aimed at combining motorsport-inspired engineering with the feel of a high-end luxury object.
Only One Destrier Will Be Built
The biggest talking point is its exclusivity. The Destrier is not a limited-production model with dozens of examples planned. It is a genuine one-off creation commissioned for a single owner.
Bugatti has not announced the identity of the customer or disclosed the final price. However, given its bespoke nature and the cost of the Bolide on which it is based, the Destrier is expected to command an extremely high price.
The Destrier is the third creation from Bugatti’s Programme Solitaire, following the Brouillard and F.K.P. Hommage. Its public debut is scheduled during Monterey Car Week, with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 16, 2026, set to be a major highlight.
With the Destrier, Bugatti has once again shown that for its most exclusive customers, owning a hypercar is no longer enough. The ultimate luxury is having a car that nobody else in the world can own.
