Jaguar has revealed the first official details of the interior of its upcoming Type 01 electric GT, giving a clearer look at how the British luxury brand plans to redefine its cabin design for the electric era. The four-door EV gets a four-seat layout, a full-length central spine and a minimalist dashboard that hides much of its technology when it is not required.
The biggest talking point inside the Jaguar Type 01 is the central spine that runs almost the entire length of the cabin. Instead of using a conventional wide centre console, Jaguar has created a prominent architectural element that separates the cabin into four individual seating areas. The design gives each occupant a more defined personal space while also creating a strong visual connection between the front and rear sections.
The Type 01 also gets a low-slung driving position designed to deliver a more engaging GT-style experience. Jaguar says the seating arrangement is intended to provide a combination of comfort, confidence and a strong connection with the road. The rear seats follow the same individualised approach, reinforcing the car’s focus on being a luxury four-seater rather than a conventional family-oriented EV.
Another interesting aspect is Jaguar’s approach to displays. Instead of filling the dashboard with multiple large screens, the Type 01 uses a large digital display positioned in front of the driver, while a smaller portrait-style touchscreen is integrated into the central spine. The smaller display handles functions such as climate and media controls, keeping the rest of the dashboard relatively clean.
Jaguar has also introduced what it calls a ClearSight Rear View Display. Rather than relying solely on a traditional rear-view mirror, the digital display is positioned at the base of the windscreen and aligned visually with the exterior mirrors. This unusual arrangement is intended to keep the driver’s eyes focused in a consistent area while providing a clear rearward view.
The minimalist theme continues with concealed storage areas and technology that remains hidden until needed. Brass-inspired detailing, travertine-inspired surfaces, and carefully integrated trim add a more distinctive character to the otherwise clean cabin. The design follows the same philosophy introduced with the Type 00 concept but has been adapted for the production-bound Type 01.
The Jaguar Type 01 is expected to make its full global debut in New York on October 6, 2026. It will be the first production Jaguar based on the company’s new dedicated electric architecture and represents a major step in the brand’s transition towards an all-electric luxury lineup.
