2027 Hyundai Bayon Gets Radical New Design, Spied Testing

Hyundai is preparing a significantly redesigned Bayon for the next generation, and the latest spy shots from Europe give the clearest indication yet of how different the upcoming SUV could look. The test vehicle was recently spotted undergoing summer testing in Southern Europe, wearing heavy camouflage but revealing a taller, boxier and more SUV-focused silhouette than the outgoing model.

New Hyundai Bayon Gets a More Traditional SUV Design

The biggest change appears to be the overall body shape. The current Bayon has a crossover-inspired profile with styling influenced by Hyundai’s hatchback range, while the new-generation model appears much more upright and muscular.

Spy images show a flatter roofline, higher ground clearance and a more squared-off body. The rising shoulder line and larger-looking proportions should also give the SUV a stronger road presence. This suggests Hyundai is moving the Bayon closer to a conventional SUV rather than keeping it as a raised crossover.

At the front, the heavily camouflaged prototype appears to feature a split-headlamp arrangement. Slim LED daytime-running lights are expected to sit higher on the fascia, while the main headlamp units appear to be positioned lower in the bumper. This approach is already becoming a familiar part of Hyundai’s latest design direction.

More Space Expected Inside

The new design is not expected to be limited to exterior styling. The taller body and more upright proportions could translate into additional cabin space compared with the current Bayon.

The existing Bayon is positioned as a compact crossover, but the next-generation model is expected to have a more SUV-oriented cabin layout and improved practicality. Hyundai could also offer a more modern dashboard with a large digital display setup and updated connectivity features, although exact interior details have not yet been revealed.

The current Bayon already offers features such as a digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment and connected technology in international markets. The next model is expected to take this equipment level further.

Hyundai Bayon India Launch Expected

The new Bayon is particularly important for Hyundai’s India strategy. The company has already started testing a Bayon-based SUV on Indian roads, with the model expected to arrive in the country during the 2026-27 financial year. Reports suggest that the India-spec SUV could be positioned alongside the Creta rather than simply replacing the Venue.

For India, the SUV is expected to get a petrol powertrain, while a CNG option has also been reported. Hyundai could also offer advanced safety technology, including ADAS, depending on the variant and final positioning.

Expected Launch Timeline

The next-generation Hyundai Bayon is expected to be revealed before the end of 2026, with sales potentially beginning in early 2027 in international markets. The India-spec version could arrive around the same broader timeframe, although Hyundai has yet to announce an exact launch date.

With its more upright proportions, stronger SUV character and substantially revised design, the 2027 Hyundai Bayon could mark a major departure from the current model. More details about its interior, engines, dimensions and India-specific specifications are expected to emerge as testing progresses.
