Hyundai has officially unveiled the new-generation 2027 Tucson, bringing a major design transformation to one of its most important global SUVs. The latest Tucson moves away from the rounded and heavily sculpted styling of the outgoing model and adopts a more upright, boxy and rugged appearance. The new design is part of Hyundai’s latest “Art of Steel” design direction.
More Rugged and Upright Exterior
The biggest change is visible on the outside. The 2027 Tucson gets a more squared-off silhouette, muscular wheel arches and a flatter, more upright front profile. This gives the SUV a stronger road presence while making it look closer to Hyundai’s newer SUV models such as the Santa Fe.
At the front, the Tucson features a new lighting arrangement with vertically positioned elements and a distinctive full-width light signature. The sharper body surfaces and wider stance further enhance its rugged character. At the rear, Hyundai has also adopted connected lighting elements, giving the SUV a more modern appearance.
The new styling is a significant departure from the current Tucson, which is known for its sharp creases and more crossover-like proportions. Hyundai appears to be targeting buyers who prefer a tougher and more traditional SUV design.
Modern and Technology-Focused Interior
The cabin has also received a comprehensive makeover. Hyundai has focused on creating a more spacious and technology-rich interior while retaining practical controls for everyday functions.
The dashboard features a large central touchscreen, a redesigned instrument display, and a new steering wheel. The cabin also gets a rounded centre console and distinctive trim elements that give it a more premium feel.

Earlier reports had indicated that the new Tucson would use Hyundai’s Pleos-based infotainment technology, with a large display and AI-powered functions. The system is expected to provide a more connected user experience, while Hyundai is also retaining physical controls for important functions instead of relying entirely on touchscreens.
Hybrid Powertrains Expected
Hyundai has yet to reveal the complete technical specifications of the new Tucson. However, the next-generation SUV is expected to continue with electrified powertrain options, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions in international markets.
Previous reports have suggested that Hyundai is moving towards a more electrified Tucson range, with conventional non-hybrid engines potentially playing a smaller role depending on the market. Exact engine outputs, battery capacities and performance figures will be announced closer to market launches.
New XRT Variant Joins the Lineup
Another important addition is the XRT trim, which gives the Tucson a more adventure-oriented character. The variant is expected to appeal to buyers looking for a tougher visual package without moving into a dedicated off-road SUV category.

With its boxier proportions, modern cabin and increased focus on electrification, the 2027 Hyundai Tucson represents one of the biggest changes in the model’s history. More details about market-specific specifications, pricing and availability are expected to be announced by Hyundai in the coming months.
The new Tucson will face strong competition in the global SUV market, but its completely redesigned exterior and technology-focused cabin could help Hyundai maintain the model’s popularity in an increasingly competitive segment.
