JSW Jetour T2 PHEV Launch in January 2027, 1200km Range

JSW Motors is preparing to bring the Jetour T2 PHEV to India as part of its upcoming passenger vehicle strategy. According to the latest reports, the plug-in hybrid SUV is now expected to arrive around January 2027, with the company targeting a claimed combined driving range of more than 1,200km on a full tank and a full battery charge.

The Jetour T2 is a rugged-looking mid-size SUV with a boxy design, high ground clearance and a strong road presence. The India-spec model is expected to be offered with the plug-in hybrid powertrain, although final specifications and variants are yet to be confirmed.

Jetour T2 PHEV Powertrain and Range

Globally, the Jetour T2 PHEV uses a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with electric motors and a dedicated hybrid transmission. Depending on the version, the SUV is available with different battery and drivetrain configurations. One version uses a 26.7kWh battery and offers an EV-only range of around 139km under the NEDC cycle.

The claimed 1,200km-plus combined range would be one of the biggest attractions of the India-spec SUV. However, this figure should be treated as a claimed combined driving range rather than an indication of what owners will achieve in normal Indian driving conditions.

Rugged Design and SUV Character

The T2 stands out from conventional urban SUVs with its squared-off styling and adventure-focused design. The model measures nearly 4.8 metres in length globally and has a 2,800mm wheelbase. Its international versions also offer features such as four-wheel drive, making it suitable for customers looking for a more capable SUV.

For India, JSW Motors could position the T2 as a premium lifestyle SUV with a strong focus on electrification and long-distance touring.

Expected India Launch and Competition

Earlier reports had indicated a 2026 launch, but more recent reports suggest that the Jetour T2 and iCaur V23 could make their India debut in early 2027. The T2 is expected to be among the first models introduced as part of JSW Motors’ India expansion plans.

The SUV could face competition from models such as the Mahindra XEV 9S, Tata Safari and other upcoming electrified SUVs, depending on its final price and positioning.

JSW Motors is yet to announce the official price, launch date, India-specific specifications or booking details. If the 1,200km-plus claimed range is retained for India, the Jetour T2 PHEV could become an interesting option for buyers who want the benefits of electric driving without the range anxiety associated with a pure EV.
