Mercedes GLC Electric India Launch: Bookings Open in October

Mercedes-Benz is preparing to expand its electric SUV range in India with the upcoming GLC Electric. The German luxury carmaker has confirmed that bookings for the all-electric SUV will open in the first week of October 2026, while the India launch is scheduled for the end of the year. The new model will also be locally assembled in India, which could help Mercedes keep its pricing competitive in the luxury EV segment.

Mercedes GLC Electric India Launch and Bookings

The Mercedes GLC Electric will become the first fully electric version of the popular GLC nameplate. According to Mercedes-Benz, the India-spec model will arrive just around six months after its European sales began, making it one of the fastest global-to-India introductions for an assembled Mercedes model. Bookings are expected to begin in October, allowing interested buyers to reserve the SUV ahead of its official launch.

The company has confirmed that the GLC Electric will be assembled locally in India. This is an important step as Mercedes continues to increase its focus on electric vehicles in the Indian market.

94kWh Battery and Up to 715km Range

The India-bound Mercedes GLC Electric is expected to be offered in the GLC 400 4MATIC configuration. It will use a 94kWh NMC battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. International specifications indicate an output of around 482hp and 800Nm, with a claimed WLTP range of up to 715km. The SUV can reportedly accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 4.3 seconds.

These figures put the GLC Electric among the more capable premium electric SUVs expected in India, particularly for buyers looking for long-distance usability along with strong performance.

Premium Interior and Technology

The new GLC Electric follows the design direction of the latest GLC while introducing a dedicated electric platform underneath. Its expected equipment list includes Mercedes’ MBUX Hyperscreen, a panoramic sunroof with Sky Control, the new MB.OS operating system, multi-zone climate control, wireless charging and Level 2 ADAS features.

The SUV is also larger than its predecessor, with a length of 4,858mm and a 2,972mm wheelbase, which should translate into a more spacious cabin.

What to Expect

Mercedes has not yet announced the official India price, but the GLC Electric is expected to sit in the premium luxury SUV category. With local assembly, a large battery, all-wheel drive and a claimed 715km range, the model could become an important addition to Mercedes-Benz India’s growing EV portfolio.

More details on pricing, variants and deliveries are likely to be revealed closer to its year-end launch.
