Kia Carnival Hybrid, Carens and Clavis CNG Bookings Open

Kia India has opened pre-bookings for three new powertrain options in its MPV range: the Carnival Limousine Hybrid, Carens CNG and Carens Clavis CNG. The move marks an important expansion of Kia’s alternative-fuel portfolio in India, with the company targeting both private buyers and customers looking for more fuel-efficient three-row vehicles.

Bookings are currently available through Kia’s authorised dealer network across India. The company has not yet announced the booking amount or final prices for these models. Prices are expected to be revealed by the end of September or in early October 2026.

Kia Carens CNG

The Carens will become Kia India’s first model to receive a factory-fitted CNG powertrain. It will use the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The CNG system gets a dedicated engine calibration, along with suspension changes to handle the additional weight.

A 60-litre CNG tank is positioned beneath the boot floor, allowing the MPV to retain its three-row seating layout. However, boot capacity is reduced when all three rows are in use. The Carens CNG is expected to be offered in the Premium (O) trim, while commercial buyers will also get a dedicated fleet-oriented version.

Kia Carens Clavis CNG

The more premium Carens Clavis is also getting the same factory-fitted CNG setup. It will use the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine with a six-speed manual transmission and a 60-litre CNG tank.

The Clavis CNG will be available in HTE and HTE (O) variants. Kia has also made changes to the suspension and third-row seat-back to improve practicality and passenger comfort. The CNG versions are expected to compete directly with popular models such as the Maruti Suzuki XL6 CNG and other three-row CNG MPVs.

Kia Carnival Hybrid

At the premium end, the Carnival is set to receive a hybrid powertrain for the first time in India. The Carnival Limousine Hybrid will be offered in a fully loaded Limousine+ trim and is expected to launch around the festive season.

It uses a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine combined with an electric motor and a six-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid setup is expected to provide a smoother and more efficient driving experience compared with the Carnival’s existing diesel-only configuration. Features include 18-inch aero alloy wheels, active air flaps, a virtual engine sound system and a smart air purifier with AQI display.

With three new powertrain options arriving together, Kia is expanding its MPV line-up to address different buyer requirements, from affordable CNG family transportation to a more premium hybrid luxury MPV. Final pricing and launch dates will determine how competitive these models are in the Indian market.
