Tata Safari EV Launch 2026: 500km Range, AWD and 3 Screens

Tata Motors is preparing to expand its electric SUV portfolio with the Safari EV, which is expected to become one of the brand’s most important electric launches in 2026. Positioned as a larger and more premium electric SUV, the Safari EV is expected to bring a long driving range, an all-wheel-drive setup and a technology-focused cabin.

The upcoming model will be based on Tata Motors’ new-generation electric vehicle architecture. While the company has not yet confirmed all specifications, reports and earlier showcases indicate that the Safari EV could offer a claimed range of around 500km on a single charge. The final certified range will depend on the battery pack, motor configuration, and production-specification vehicle.

Dual-Motor AWD Setup Expected

One of the biggest highlights of the Tata Safari EV could be its dual-motor powertrain. Unlike front-wheel-drive electric SUVs, a dual-motor setup would allow the Safari EV to drive all four wheels.

This configuration could provide stronger acceleration and improved traction, particularly on wet roads and rough surfaces. It would also give Tata an opportunity to position the electric Safari as a more performance-oriented alternative to conventional front-wheel-drive electric SUVs.

The battery capacity and exact power output have not been officially confirmed yet. Tata Motors is expected to reveal detailed technical specifications closer to the launch.

Three-Screen Interior

The cabin is expected to receive a significant technology upgrade. The Safari EV could feature a three-screen layout, with separate displays for the driver, infotainment system, and front passenger.

The dashboard is also expected to follow Tata’s latest design direction, with a cleaner layout and fewer physical controls. Other expected equipment could include a panoramic sunroof, premium audio system, connected-car technology, ventilated seats and advanced driver assistance features, depending on the variant.

The production model is likely to retain the Safari’s three-row seating configuration, making it one of the more practical electric SUVs for larger families.

Expected Launch and Positioning

Tata Motors has not announced the final launch date or pricing for the Safari EV. However, the model is expected to arrive in India during 2026 as part of the company’s wider electric vehicle expansion.

The Safari EV could sit above Tata’s existing electric SUVs in terms of size, equipment and positioning. Its expected long-range battery and dual-motor AWD configuration could also help it compete with upcoming premium electric SUVs from other manufacturers.

For buyers looking for a spacious three-row electric SUV, the Safari EV could be an important option. However, final details such as battery capacity, certified range, performance, charging time, and pricing will be crucial in determining how competitive it becomes when Tata Motors officially introduces the production version.
