2027 Audi Q5: New Platform, 2.0-Litre Engine and Quattro AWD

The Audi Q5 is set to enter a new phase with the latest-generation model bringing a modern platform, updated powertrain technology and a more advanced cabin. For the Indian market, the upcoming 2027 Audi Q5 is expected to continue with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, while Quattro all-wheel drive is likely to remain one of its key highlights.

The new Q5 is based on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion, or PPC architecture. This is an important change for the SUV as the platform has been developed to support more efficient combustion engines along with electrification. Audi says the Q5 is the first SUV based on this architecture, which also brings a new electronic architecture and improved scope for connected and driver-assistance technologies.

2.0-Litre Turbo-Petrol Engine Expected

For India, the Q5 is expected to use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TFSI turbo-petrol engine. Internationally, the 2.0 TFSI produces 204 PS and 340 Nm of torque, with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission. Depending on the market and configuration, the engine can be paired with either front-wheel drive or Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The Indian-spec version is expected to focus on the turbo-petrol powertrain rather than the diesel option offered in some international markets. Audi could also equip the engine with mild-hybrid technology, which is designed to improve efficiency and provide smoother operation in everyday driving.

Quattro AWD for Better Grip

Quattro all-wheel drive will be one of the major attractions of the new Q5. The system is designed to improve traction by distributing drive to the wheels when required, making the SUV more confident on slippery roads and during high-speed driving.

While the Q5 is primarily designed as a premium road-going SUV, the AWD system should also be useful for buyers who regularly drive on uneven roads or in challenging weather conditions.

More Technology Inside

The new-generation Q5 also receives a significantly updated interior with a stronger focus on digital technology. Audi has introduced a modern electronics architecture along with larger and more advanced displays, while the cabin is designed to offer improved comfort and practicality.

The latest Q5 also offers a 520-litre boot, making it suitable for family use despite its premium positioning.

Expected India Launch

The 2027 Audi Q5 is expected to arrive in India with a premium positioning against SUVs such as the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC. An India launch is currently expected around October, although Audi has not officially confirmed the exact launch date or final specifications.

With its new PPC platform, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, Quattro AWD, and upgraded technology, the upcoming Q5 could offer a strong combination of performance, comfort, and everyday usability in the premium SUV segment.
