JeTour T2 i-DM Breaks Cover at 2026 Indonesia Motor Show

Jetour has widened its electrified lineup in Indonesia with the launch of the T2 i-DM, a plug-in hybrid version of its popular Adventure SUV, at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 held at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, on July 29, 2026. The new model arrives as the automaker’s second PHEV offering in the country after the T1 i-DM, and it marks the debut of Jetour’s Intelligent Dual Mode (i-DM) technology on the best-selling T2 nameplate.

Pricing and Positioning

PT Jetour Sales Indonesia has priced the T2 i-DM at Rp688 million on-the-road Jakarta. President Director Caroline Ling described the launch as an important step in bringing a new era of Adventure SUVs to Indonesian buyers while expanding access to the brand’s i-DM technology. During the GIIAS run, the company is also offering a Paint Protection Film voucher worth Rp22 million or a one-year, zero-percent interest installment program, subject to terms and conditions.

What’s Under the Hood

The T2 i-DM’s Intelligent Dual Mode system pairs a fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5-litre TGDI hybrid-dedicated engine with a CATL LFP battery pack rated at 18.4 kWh, routed through a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission with dual electric motors. This combination is designed to blend everyday fuel efficiency with the torque delivery needed for longer, more demanding drives, a claim that lines up with reports suggesting the model can achieve a combined range of up to 1,200 km on a full tank and charge.

Structurally, the PHEV variant carries over the standard T2’s Hardtop Cage Body Monocoque, built using roughly 80 percent high-strength steel. Jetour states the structure can withstand a static load of up to 300 kilograms and delivers torsional rigidity of around 32,000 Nm per degree, figures aimed at reassuring buyers who expect genuine off-road toughness rather than just SUV styling. Visually, the i-DM variant does not stray far from the conventional petrol-only T2, keeping the rugged adventure-oriented design language intact.

Why This Launch Matters

The timing is notable. Globally, the T2 has already crossed cumulative sales of more than 500,000 units in just 33 months, making it one of Jetour’s most successful nameplates. In Indonesia specifically, the T2 has been the brand’s biggest sales contributor and claimed the top spot among Chinese-made internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles during the first half of 2026. That track record gives the i-DM variant a strong foundation to build on, rather than launching into a cold market.

There’s also a clear signal from Jetour’s own numbers: around 60 percent of total T1 bookings in Indonesia came from the i-DM variant rather than the conventional petrol version, suggesting Indonesian buyers are increasingly comfortable paying a premium for plug-in hybrid technology when it’s packaged inside a familiar, rugged SUV body.

The Bigger Picture

Marketing Director Ranggy Soemardjoko noted that the product concept combines the petrol engine and electric motor to optimize both performance and efficiency, without giving up the brand’s adventure character. That balance efficiency without sacrificing capability is becoming the defining pitch for PHEV SUVs across Southeast Asia, where buyers want lower running costs but remain wary of pure EVs due to charging infrastructure concerns.

With the T2 i-DM, Jetour is betting that its formula of rugged design, strong local sales history, and hybrid efficiency will help it defend and grow its position in Indonesia’s increasingly competitive electrified SUV segment, one where Chinese brands are moving fast, and local buyers are paying close attention.
