Hyundai is preparing to introduce the next-generation Tucson, and the SUV has now been spotted testing ahead of its global debut, which is expected later this year. The latest spy images reveal a heavily camouflaged prototype, but they still provide a few hints about the design direction Hyundai is likely to take. As one of the brand’s best-selling SUVs worldwide, the upcoming Tucson is expected to receive significant updates in styling, technology, and electrified powertrains.
The test vehicle appears to feature a more upright front fascia compared to the current model. Although most design elements remain hidden under camouflage, the SUV seems to have a larger grille, slimmer LED lighting, and a more squared-off overall profile. Hyundai may also introduce a fresh interpretation of its signature Parametric Dynamics design language while giving the Tucson a more rugged road presence.
From the side, the prototype maintains familiar proportions, but redesigned alloy wheels, new body lines, and updated door panels are expected. At the rear, the taillamps are concealed, suggesting an all-new lighting signature that could extend across the tailgate. Hyundai is also likely to revise the bumper design to give the SUV a cleaner and more premium appearance.
Inside, the new Tucson is expected to take a major step forward in terms of technology. Hyundai could equip the SUV with a larger connected infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a redesigned dashboard with improved materials. Features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and a premium audio system are expected to continue, while newer driver assistance technologies could also be added.
Under the bonnet, Hyundai is likely to focus heavily on electrification. Global markets are expected to receive updated petrol, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains with improved efficiency and lower emissions. Some markets may also continue to offer diesel variants depending on regional demand. The company is expected to fine-tune the suspension and steering setup as well to deliver better ride comfort and driving dynamics.
For India, Hyundai has not officially confirmed the launch timeline of the next-generation Tucson. However, if the global debut takes place later this year, the premium SUV could arrive in the Indian market sometime in 2027. It will continue to compete with rivals such as the Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 Aircross, Volkswagen Tiguan, and other premium midsize SUVs.
With a refreshed design, upgraded cabin, and more efficient powertrain options, the next-generation Hyundai Tucson aims to strengthen its position in the global SUV segment. More official details are expected to be revealed as Hyundai moves closer to the vehicle’s global unveiling.
