Honda Elevate Facelift and 0 Alpha EV Launch in India

Honda Cars India is preparing to expand its SUV portfolio with two important launches in the coming months. The Japanese automaker is working on the facelifted Elevate and its first mass-market electric SUV based on the Honda 0 Alpha concept. Both models have already been spotted testing on Indian roads and are expected to arrive before the end of the current financial year.

Honda Elevate Facelift Expected This Festive Season

The Honda Elevate, which was launched in India in September 2023, is set to receive its first major update. The facelift is expected to bring subtle exterior changes along with a more feature-rich cabin, helping the SUV remain competitive against models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder.

Spy images suggest that the updated Elevate could receive redesigned LED headlamps, revised bumpers, a tweaked grille and updated LED taillights. The alloy wheel design may also be revised, while changes to the interior could include new upholstery and trim elements.

One of the biggest improvements is expected to be the addition of features already available on the new Honda City. These could include a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, a larger touchscreen infotainment system and an updated ADAS package. Honda has previously indicated that features such as a 360-degree camera and ventilated seats, currently available through accessories, could be integrated into the main vehicle lineup.

Mechanically, the facelifted Elevate is expected to continue with the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The unit currently produces around 121hp and is offered with a six-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox. There is no confirmed indication of a major powertrain change for the facelift.

Honda 0 Alpha EV to Arrive in 2027

Alongside the Elevate facelift, Honda is preparing a much more significant product for the Indian market. The production version of the Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV is currently undergoing extensive testing in India.

Honda officially began pan-India public road verification of its upcoming electric SUV in March 2026. The testing programme includes highways, city roads and challenging terrains, while engineers are also evaluating battery efficiency, charging performance, ride comfort and reliability under Indian weather conditions.

The production SUV is expected to retain several design cues from the 0 Alpha concept and will be manufactured locally at Honda’s Tapukara facility in Rajasthan. The company has indicated that the SUV will have a wheelbase of around 2,700- 2,800 mm, giving it a strong presence in the midsize electric SUV segment.

The new Honda EV is expected to compete with upcoming and existing electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6 and Tata Sierra EV. While detailed battery, range and pricing specifications have not yet been officially revealed, the model is expected to play an important role in Honda’s electrification strategy for India.

Two Key Launches for Honda

The Elevate facelift and 0 Alpha EV represent two different parts of Honda’s India strategy. The facelift will help refresh its existing SUV offering, while the electric SUV will give the brand a dedicated entry into India’s rapidly growing EV market.

With both models undergoing testing, Honda is expected to reveal more details closer to their respective launches. The Elevate facelift is likely to arrive during the festive season, while the 0 Alpha-based electric SUV is expected around the first quarter of 2027.
