The biggest mechanical change is the replacement of the earlier four-cylinder petrol engine with Maruti’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-Series unit. It produces around 82-83hp and 112Nm and is offered with a five-speed manual or five-speed AMT gearbox. The CNG version is available with the manual transmission.

The facelift also receives several exterior changes. The front-end gets a revised grille and bumper design, while other additions include a chrome fender insert, shark-fin antenna and LED lighting enhancements on higher variants. A new Enigmatic Teal colour has also been added to the range.

Inside the cabin, Maruti has added more premium equipment. Depending on the variant, buyers can get ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger and a Clarion sound system. These additions are aimed at making the Baleno more comfortable for everyday driving.

However, the biggest upgrade is safety technology. The top-spec Alpha (O) variant gets Level 2 ADAS, bringing features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance and autonomous emergency braking. The Alpha (O) is positioned as the new flagship variant of the Baleno facelift.

With the new engine, upgraded equipment and advanced safety features, the 2026 Maruti Baleno facelift becomes a more feature-rich option in the premium hatchback segment. It continues to compete with models such as the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz, while the addition of ADAS gives the Baleno a stronger technology-focused appeal.

For buyers looking for a practical hatchback with Maruti’s familiar ownership proposition, the updated Baleno now offers a broader mix of efficiency, convenience and safety features across its range.
