Mercedes-Benz has officially opened bookings for the new GLC Electric in India, bringing the German luxury brand’s latest electric SUV one step closer to its market launch. The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is scheduled to launch in India on November 4, 2026, and will be locally assembled at the company’s Chakan facility in Pune.
The India-spec model will initially be offered in the GLC 400 4Matic configuration. Mercedes-Benz is positioning the electric SUV as a premium alternative to conventional luxury SUVs, combining a long claimed driving range with strong performance and advanced cabin technology.
Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Powertrain and Range
Internationally, the GLC 400 4Matic Electric uses a 94kWh battery pack paired with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The setup produces around 490hp and 800Nm of torque. Mercedes-Benz claims a 0- 100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.3 seconds, which makes the SUV considerably quick despite its large size and weight.
The international-specification model has a claimed WLTP range of up to 715km on a single charge. It also supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW, with Mercedes-Benz claiming that a 10-minute charging session can add up to 300km of range under suitable conditions. Final India-specific certification and equipment details are expected to be confirmed closer to the launch.
Premium Design and Technology-Focused Interior
The GLC Electric gets a distinctive exterior while retaining some familiar design cues associated with the GLC nameplate. Its front-end features illuminated elements around the grille, sharp LED lighting, and a clean overall appearance. The SUV also gets flush-fitting door handles and distinctive star-inspired rear lighting.
Inside, the biggest highlight is the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, which combines the digital instrument cluster, central infotainment display and front passenger screen into one dashboard-spanning unit. The system uses Mercedes-Benz’s latest MBUX technology and includes an AI-powered assistant.
The SUV will also feature a five-seat layout, while international specifications include technologies such as rear-wheel steering and air suspension.
Expected Price and Rivals
Mercedes-Benz is expected to position the GLC Electric in the Rs. 80 lakh to Rs. 90 lakh range, ex-showroom. Since the SUV will be assembled locally, Mercedes-Benz could have greater flexibility in pricing compared with a fully imported electric luxury SUV.
The upcoming BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase, expected in India in 2027, will be one of its key future rivals.
With bookings now open, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is set to become an important addition to the brand’s growing EV portfolio in India. Its combination of performance, claimed range, luxury, and local assembly could make it a strong contender in the premium electric SUV segment.
