Nissan is preparing to expand its SUV portfolio in India with a new three-row model based on the recently launched Tekton. The upcoming seven-seat SUV has been spotted testing again on Indian roads, and the latest spy images reveal several important details about its design, equipment, and expected powertrain.
The new SUV is expected to arrive in India in 2027 and will be positioned above the five-seat Tekton. While it will share its underlying CMF-B platform with the Tekton, Nissan has indicated that the three-row model will be a substantially different product rather than simply a stretched version of the existing SUV.
Longer Body and Revised Exterior
The latest test vehicle appears noticeably longer than the five-seat Tekton, with an extended rear section designed to accommodate the additional row. The larger rear quarter panel and bigger rear quarter glass are clearly visible despite the heavy camouflage.
At the front, the SUV appears to retain the Tekton-inspired LED daytime running light and headlamp arrangement, while the bumpers are expected to receive their own design. The rear-end treatment is more distinctive, with a new LED tail-light design and a wider-looking light bar. The test vehicle also features roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, a rear wiper and washer, an integrated spoiler and a tailgate-mounted number plate recess.
Radar-Based ADAS Confirmed
One of the biggest revelations from the latest spy shots is the presence of radar hardware at the front. This suggests that the seven-seat SUV will offer radar-based advanced driver assistance systems.
The five-seat Tekton already comes with advanced safety and driver-assistance technology, and the larger SUV is expected to carry forward several of these features. A 360-degree camera, multiple airbags and other electronic safety systems could also be offered on higher variants, although Nissan has not yet announced the complete equipment list.
Engine and Transmission Expected
The upcoming Nissan seven-seater is expected to use the Tekton’s 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, while some reports suggest that the smaller 1.0-litre turbo-petrol could also be considered. Transmission choices are expected to include a six-speed manual and an automatic option, with the larger SUV likely to remain front-wheel drive.
Nissan is expected to position the new three-row SUV against established models such as the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO. With a longer body, three-row practicality and radar-based ADAS, the upcoming model could become an important product in Nissan’s India comeback strategy.
The Nissan Tekton-based seven-seat SUV is still under testing, so final specifications, pricing, and the official name are expected to be announced closer to its 2027 launch.
