BYD India has expanded its premium electric SUV lineup with the launch of the new Sealion 7 Dynamic. Positioned as the entry-level variant, the new model is priced at an introductory Rs 41.90 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 8 lakh more affordable than the existing Premium variant. The new Dynamic trim is aimed at buyers looking for a premium electric SUV without stepping up to the higher-priced versions.
The biggest change comes under the skin. Unlike the Premium and Performance variants that use an 82.56kWh battery pack, the Sealion 7 Dynamic gets a smaller 71.8kWh Blade Battery. Despite the reduced battery capacity, BYD claims a range of 520km on a single charge under the NEDC testing cycle.
BYD Sealion 7 Dynamic: Battery and Performance
The new Dynamic variant is powered by a single electric motor driving the rear wheels. It produces 228bhp and 380Nm of torque. BYD claims the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 7.3 seconds, giving the entry-level version a strong performance package despite its smaller battery.
For comparison, the higher-spec Sealion 7 Premium and Performance variants continue with the larger 82.56kWh battery. This makes the Dynamic variant more focused on offering a lower entry price rather than matching the outright range and performance of the more expensive versions.
Features and Equipment
Despite being the new base variant, the Sealion 7 Dynamic comes with a long list of premium features. It gets a panoramic glass roof, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, a powered tailgate and rain-sensing frameless wipers.
Inside the cabin, the SUV features a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other highlights include a 10.25-inch digital driver display, a 10-speaker audio system, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats and a powered driver’s seat with four-way lumbar adjustment.
The Dynamic also retains several technology and safety features associated with the Sealion 7, including BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 architecture and Cell-to-Body battery construction.
Price and Positioning
With the new Dynamic variant, the BYD Sealion 7 range now includes Dynamic, Premium and Performance versions. The Dynamic starts at Rs 41.90 lakh, while the higher variants continue to cater to buyers looking for additional battery capacity and stronger performance.
BYD is also offering festive-season benefits with the new variant, including a complimentary 7kW home charger with installation, extended roadside assistance and an extended warranty for the LFP low-voltage battery.
The launch of the Sealion 7 Dynamic gives BYD a more accessible entry point into the premium electric SUV segment. With a 520km claimed range, a strong equipment list, and a significant reduction in the starting price, the new variant could attract buyers who want a premium EV experience without paying for the larger battery and higher performance of the top trims.
