Chery’s iCAUR V23 electric SUV has been patented in India, adding another strong indication that the distinctive boxy EV is being prepared for the Indian market. The model has already been spotted testing on Indian roads and is expected to be introduced through JSW Motors as part of its upcoming independent automotive portfolio.
The patent filing does not confirm an exact launch date, but it strengthens the possibility of the V23 becoming one of JSW Motors’ upcoming electric SUVs. Recent reports suggest that the India-spec model could arrive alongside or after the Jetour T2, with an early 2027 debut now being discussed.
Boxy Design With a Distinctive Road Presence
The iCAUR V23 stands out with its upright and rugged design, which gives it a more traditional SUV appearance than many modern electric crossovers. The vehicle measures around 4.2 metres in length and features round headlamps, prominent wheel arches, an upright body and a rear-mounted spare-wheel-style design element.

Inside, the V23 follows a modern approach with a large 15.4-inch QHD touchscreen, column-mounted drive selector, grab handles and electrically adjustable front seats. International versions also offer features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, depending on the market.
Two Battery and Powertrain Options
Internationally, the iCAUR V23 is available with different battery and drivetrain configurations. The 2WD version uses a 59.93kWh LFP battery and produces around 134bhp and 180Nm. The more powerful dual-motor AWD version gets an 81.76kWh NMC battery and develops approximately 208bhp and 292Nm.
Depending on the specification and testing cycle, claimed range figures can vary. The global model has been quoted with ranges of up to 510km under the CLTC cycle, while other market specifications quote lower figures under different testing standards.
India Launch Could Strengthen JSW’s EV Line-Up
For India, the V23 could become an interesting alternative to conventional electric SUVs, particularly for buyers looking for distinctive styling combined with an electric powertrain. Reports indicate that the India-spec version will be sold under the JSW brand rather than as a direct Chery-badged model.

While pricing and final specifications remain unconfirmed, the iCAUR V23 is expected to target the mainstream premium EV space. Its combination of rugged styling, multiple drivetrain options and a technology-focused cabin could make it an important model for JSW Motors as the company expands its presence in India.
