Hyundai Motor India is preparing for a major expansion of its product portfolio with three all-new vehicles aimed at different segments. The automaker has confirmed plans to enter the compact electric SUV, MPV and off-road SUV categories as part of its long-term India strategy. Hyundai is planning 26 launches by FY2030, including seven new nameplates and its first locally manufactured dedicated electric SUV.
Hyundai Compact EV SUV
One of the most important upcoming products will be Hyundai’s new compact electric SUV. Codenamed HE1i, the model is expected to be positioned below the Creta and target the growing mass-market EV segment.
The India-specific electric SUV is scheduled to arrive by March 2027 and will be manufactured locally at Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur facility in Tamil Nadu. It is expected to use Hyundai’s E-GMP (K) architecture, with reports suggesting battery options around 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The model could offer both standard- and long-range versions.
Technology is also expected to be a major highlight, with Hyundai likely to introduce its next-generation infotainment system and Level 2 ADAS. The compact EV will compete with models such as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and Kia Syros EV.
New Hyundai 7-Seater MPV
Hyundai will also enter India’s popular family MPV segment with a new three-row model. The upcoming MPV is expected to be positioned in the mass-market space, potentially competing with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Kia Carens Clavis.
Reports suggest the India-spec MPV could measure around 4.5 metres and offer both six- and seven-seat configurations. Hyundai could use its existing 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, while a hybrid option could also become part of the lineup in the future. The company has not yet confirmed the production model or its final name.
Hyundai’s First Dedicated Off-Roader
Perhaps the most interesting addition will be Hyundai’s entry into the dedicated off-road SUV space. The company has confirmed plans for an off-road-focused model, which could feature a rugged design and four-wheel-drive capability.
Hyundai has also filed a patent in India for the Boulder SUV concept, which was showcased internationally in 2026. The concept uses a body-on-frame architecture and could share its platform with a future pickup truck. However, Hyundai has not yet confirmed whether the patented Boulder design will directly become the India-bound production SUV.
A Major Product Offensive
These three upcoming vehicles highlight Hyundai’s changing strategy for the Indian market. Along with new SUVs, EVs and an MPV, the company is also preparing further hybrid and electrified products.
With a strong focus on localisation, new technologies and multiple new segments, Hyundai’s upcoming launches could significantly expand its presence in India and intensify competition across the SUV, EV and family-car markets.
