Mahindra XEV 9S Launched in India: Price, Range & Features

Mahindra has officially launched the XEV 9S in India, expanding its range of born-electric SUVs with a practical three-row model aimed at buyers looking for space, technology and long-distance electric capability. While some reports may mention a 6-seater version and a price of Rs 25.25 lakh, Mahindra has launched the XEV 9S as a 7-seater SUV, with introductory prices starting at Rs 19.95 lakh, ex-showroom.

The XEV 9S is based on Mahindra’s INGLO electric vehicle platform, which also underpins the XEV 9e and BE 6. It has been designed specifically as a family-focused electric SUV and offers three rows of seating. Mahindra describes it as India’s first authentic electric-origin 7-seater SUV, giving it a different positioning from electric MPVs currently available in the market.

Mahindra XEV 9S Price and Variants

The XEV 9S is available in four broad trims with multiple battery combinations. The introductory price starts at Rs 19.95 lakh for the Pack One Above with the 59kWh battery. The 79kWh version of the same variant costs Rs 21.95 lakh.

The Pack Two Above variant is available with a 70kWh battery at Rs 24.45 lakh, while the 79kWh version is priced at Rs 25.45 lakh. Higher Pack Three and Pack Three Above variants are priced at Rs 27.35 lakh and Rs 29.45 lakh, respectively. These are ex-showroom prices.

This means the Rs 25.25 lakh figure does not match the official introductory ex-showroom pricing of the XEV 9S. Depending on the location, charger, insurance and other costs, the on-road price can be higher.

Battery, Range and Performance

Mahindra offers the XEV 9S with 59kWh, 70kWh and 79kWh battery packs. The 59kWh version produces 231hp, while the 70kWh battery is paired with a 245hp motor. The larger 79kWh battery gets a 286hp motor. All versions produce 380Nm of torque and are offered with a rear-wheel-drive setup.

The claimed ARAI range varies from 521km with the 59kWh battery to as much as 679km with the 79kWh battery. The 70kWh version has a claimed range of up to 600km. The SUV supports DC fast charging between 140kW and 180kW, depending on the variant.

Features and Interior

The XEV 9S gets a technology-rich cabin with a wide triple-screen dashboard, panoramic sunroof, connected-car features and a premium Harman Kardon audio system. Higher variants also offer an augmented-reality head-up display, auto parking assistance and advanced driver assistance systems.

Practicality is another major focus. The second-row seats can slide and recline, while folding the third row provides up to 500 litres of boot space. There is also a 150-litre frunk at the front.

With its spacious seven-seat layout, long claimed range and feature-packed cabin, the Mahindra XEV 9S strengthens the company’s position in India’s growing electric SUV market. Its combination of family-friendly practicality and dedicated EV architecture could make it an important alternative for buyers moving from conventional three-row SUVs to electric mobility.
