Maruti XL6 Facelift: New Suzuki XL7 to Debut July 29

If you have been waiting for an update on the Maruti XL6 facelift, here is some good news. Suzuki has confirmed that the new-generation Suzuki XL7 will make its debut on July 29 at the GIIAS 2026 auto show in Indonesia. While the XL7 itself is not sold in India, it shares its underpinnings with the Maruti XL6, so whatever changes we see on the XL7 are almost certainly headed our way too.

Teaser images released by Suzuki Indonesia have already given us a good idea of what to expect, and going by them, this facelift looks like a fairly substantial one, not just a minor cosmetic touch-up.

What’s Changing on the Outside

The teaser shows a noticeably reworked front end. Expect a new grille design, sleeker LED headlamps, and a fresh bumper. Leaked images from a few days ago also point to a new set of alloy wheels, along with black and dual-tone black-and-chrome finish options depending on the variant. Around the back, a revised bumper and updated tail lamp graphics should give the MPV a more contemporary look overall.

A Cabin That Finally Feels Premium

This is where the facelift seems to matter most. Reports suggest the new XL7, and by extension the XL6 facelift for India, could get a larger touchscreen infotainment unit, a fresh digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display, something the current XL6 sorely misses. Ventilated front seats and a 360-degree camera are also expected to make the cut. Most of the other cabin features are likely to carry over from the outgoing model, so don’t expect an entirely new dashboard layout.

Engine and Transmission: No Surprises Here

Mechanically, things are staying familiar. The XL7 facelift is expected to continue with the same 1.5-liter, four-cylinder K15B mild-hybrid petrol engine, putting out around 103 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. In Indonesia, it comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. For the Indian market, Maruti is also expected to add a factory-fitted CNG option with an underbody tank, similar to what we have already seen on the Victoris, which would be a genuinely useful addition for cost-conscious buyers.

Safety Kit Should See a Bump

While full details will only be confirmed at the global unveiling, expect the safety list to include six airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera. None of this is class-leading by today’s standards, but it would still be a meaningful step up from what the current-generation XL6 offers.

When Will It Reach India?

There is no official word yet from Maruti Suzuki on the India launch date, but industry reports suggest the facelifted XL6 could arrive here by the end of 2026, once the usual round of localization and testing is done. Expect pricing to land somewhere between roughly ₹11.5 lakh and ₹14.5 lakh, ex-showroom, which would keep it in the same fight as the Kia Carens, Toyota Rumion, and the top-end variants of the Maruti Ertiga.

What It Means for Buyers

The July 29 unveiling of the Suzuki XL7 will tell us almost everything we need to know about the next Maruti XL6. Sharper styling, a genuinely upgraded cabin, and a slightly longer safety checklist should keep this MPV relevant in a segment that has only gotten more competitive.
