Skoda Auto is preparing to bring the new-generation Superb back to the Indian market, and this time the premium sedan will return with a diesel engine. The fourth-generation Superb has been revealed for India ahead of its expected launch in 2027, marking the comeback of the brand’s flagship sedan after it was discontinued from the market.
New Skoda Superb India Launch Details
The new Skoda Superb is expected to arrive in India in the first half of 2027. The model will be sold as a completely built unit (CBU), which means it will be imported directly into the country. Skoda has also started accepting expressions of interest from customers, with deliveries expected to begin around the second quarter of 2027.
Unlike the previous-generation model, the new Superb will return with a diesel powertrain. This could make it an interesting alternative for buyers looking for a spacious and premium sedan with long-distance touring capabilities.
2.0-Litre Diesel Engine with DSG
The India-spec Skoda Superb will be powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine producing around 150hp. The engine will be paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Skoda claims a 0-100kph acceleration time of around 9.2 seconds.
The diesel engine is expected to appeal to customers who prefer strong highway performance and better fuel efficiency over long journeys. However, Skoda is yet to announce the final India-spec fuel economy figure.
Premium Design and Luxury Features
The new Superb follows Skoda’s latest design language, offering a sharper and more sophisticated appearance than its predecessor. The India-spec model is expected to feature Matrix LED headlights, LED tail-lamps and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Superb focuses heavily on comfort and technology. It gets a large 12.9-inch infotainment system, a digital driver display and a premium cabin layout. Other highlights include three-zone climate control and a 14-speaker sound system, giving the sedan a more upmarket feel.
The Superb is also known globally for its spacious cabin and comfort-oriented seating. Higher-end versions offer features such as ventilated seats and massage functions, while advanced driver assistance technology is also part of the new model’s package.
Safety and Technology
Safety is another major area of improvement. The new Superb is expected to offer a comprehensive safety package, including multiple airbags and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems. These features can provide functions such as adaptive cruise control, lane assistance and other active safety support depending on the final India-spec configuration.
With its combination of diesel performance, premium equipment, advanced safety technology and generous cabin space, the new Superb could occupy a unique position in India’s premium sedan market.
What to Expect
Skoda has not yet announced the official price of the new Superb for India. Since it will be imported as a CBU, the sedan is expected to command a premium price. Its combination of a 2.0-litre diesel engine and luxury-focused equipment could make it an attractive option for buyers considering premium sedans such as the Toyota Camry and entry-level luxury cars.
The official launch is still some time away, but the return of the Superb with diesel power is likely to attract attention among enthusiasts and long-distance luxury car buyers. More details on pricing, variants and exact India-spec features are expected closer to its launch.
