Next-Gen Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Confirmed for India

Hyundai Motor India has confirmed that a new-generation Grand i10 Nios is in the pipeline for the Indian market. The upcoming hatchback is expected to be introduced by 2030 as part of Hyundai’s wider product expansion strategy. The confirmation came during Hyundai’s 2026 CEO Investor Day, where the carmaker outlined its plans for several new and updated models in India.

The Grand i10 Nios has been an important model in Hyundai’s small-car lineup, positioned below the i20 and aimed at buyers looking for a compact family hatchback with premium features. The next-generation model is expected to bring major changes compared with the current version, although Hyundai has not yet revealed detailed specifications, design, or powertrain information.

New Grand i10 Nios Could Get Bigger

One of the biggest changes expected with the next-generation Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is its size. Reports suggest that the new hatchback could grow considerably and may approach the 3.95-metre mark in overall length. If this happens, the Nios would move closer to the current i20 in terms of exterior dimensions.

The increase in size could also result in a more spacious cabin and improved rear-seat comfort. However, it remains unclear whether Hyundai will continue selling the i20 alongside the larger Nios or reposition its hatchback range in India.

Expected Design and Feature Updates

Hyundai is likely to give the new Grand i10 Nios a completely fresh design rather than simply updating the existing model. The exterior could adopt styling cues from Hyundai’s newer global products, giving the hatchback a more modern appearance.

The cabin is also expected to receive a significant technology upgrade. Hyundai could equip the new model with a larger infotainment display, a digital instrument cluster, connected-car technology and additional convenience features. Safety equipment is also likely to receive attention as customer expectations and regulatory requirements continue to evolve.

However, these features have not been officially confirmed yet, so the final equipment list will only become clear closer to the launch.

Petrol, CNG and Electric Powertrains

Hyundai has not announced the powertrain details of the next-generation Grand i10 Nios. The current model is available with petrol and CNG options, with the CNG version using Hyundai’s dual-cylinder setup to improve usable boot space.

For the next generation, Hyundai could continue offering an internal-combustion engine with CNG technology while also evaluating electrified options. Earlier reports have indicated that an electric version of the Grand i10 Nios has been considered as part of Hyundai’s affordable EV strategy, although there is no confirmed launch timeline for such a model.

Launch Timeline and Competition

The next-generation Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is confirmed for India by 2030, but Hyundai has not announced an exact launch date. The company’s broader strategy includes multiple new models and updates across different segments during the remainder of the decade.

When launched, the new Nios will continue to compete in India’s competitive hatchback market, where buyers increasingly expect better technology, safety and fuel efficiency without moving into significantly higher price brackets.

For now, Hyundai is expected to reveal more information closer to the development and launch phase. If the company manages to combine the Nios’ compact-city appeal with a larger cabin, modern technology and multiple powertrain choices, the next-generation model could become an important part of Hyundai’s entry-level portfolio in India.
