Nissan Tekton and Maruti Brezza Facelift Deliveries Begin in India

The Indian compact and mid-size SUV segment just got a lot more interesting, and it happened almost overnight. Within days of each other, two very different automakers, Nissan and Maruti Suzuki, started handing over the keys to their newly launched SUVs. For anyone tracking the space, this is the kind of moment that actually matters more than the launch event itself, because it shows a manufacturer can go from unveiling to actual driveways without the usual long wait.

Nissan Tekton Finally Reaches Customers

Nissan’s comeback story in India has a new chapter. The Tekton, which the company has been teasing for months and even nicknamed the “Baby Patrol” because of its styling cues borrowed from the flagship Nissan Patrol, has started arriving at customer homes. One of the very first units, finished in Onyx Black, was handed over to a family in Gujarat, and the celebratory video of that delivery quickly made the rounds online.

What makes the Tekton worth watching isn’t just the styling. It’s built on the same platform as the Renault Duster, but Nissan has given it its own identity, with a split rectangular grille, LED light bars, and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Under the hood, buyers get a choice between a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 100 bhp mated only to a six-speed manual, or a more powerful 1.3-litre turbo-petrol producing over 160 bhp, available with either a manual or a DCT automatic. Prices start at Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 18.59 lakh for the fully loaded Tekna+ trim.

The Tekton is entering a segment that’s already crowded with strong players like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, and even its own sibling, the Renault Duster. Nissan’s biggest challenge won’t be the product itself, which looks genuinely competitive on paper, but its comparatively thin dealer and service network next to giants like Maruti and Hyundai. Still, the fact that deliveries began so quickly after launch is a good sign that production and logistics are running smoothly.

Maruti Brezza Facelift Rolls Out Too

Around the same time, Maruti Suzuki kicked off deliveries of the updated 2026 Brezza. The first unit delivered was a top-spec ZXi+ turbo-petrol variant in Bluish Black, complete with dealer-fitted accessories like red grille inserts and a silver skid plate, handed over with the usual reveal-cloth moment that’s become a bit of a tradition for Indian car buyers.

The bigger story here is under the bonnet. For the first time, the Brezza gets a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine, the same unit found in the Fronx, making 109 bhp and 170 Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a six-speed manual. The familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol continues too, now offered with both manual and automatic options, and there’s a CNG variant with a revised underbody tank layout. Prices for the facelifted Brezza start at Rs 7.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

Cosmetically, the changes are subtle rather than dramatic: a reworked front bumper, new triangular fog lamp surrounds, updated cladding, and fresh alloy wheel designs. Inside, buyers now get a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen, ventilated seats, and Level 1 ADAS features, keeping the Brezza relevant against rivals like the Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon.

What It Means for Buyers

Both these deliveries signal something buyers genuinely care about: shorter waiting periods. Whether you’re drawn to the Tekton’s bold new styling or the Brezza’s practical turbo-petrol update, the good news is you won’t be stuck waiting months to actually drive one home.
