Maruti Suzuki has launched the facelifted Baleno in India, bringing a refreshed design, a new petrol engine, additional features and an upgraded safety package to its popular premium hatchback. The 2026 Maruti Baleno facelift starts at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 20,000 more expensive than the outgoing base variant.
New Engine and CNG-AMT Option
The biggest change on the facelifted Baleno is under the bonnet. Maruti Suzuki has replaced the earlier 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with its newer 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. The engine produces 83 PS and 112 Nm of torque.
It is available with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The petrol-manual version claims 23.80 kmpl, while the AMT version delivers a claimed 24.77 kmpl.
The factory-fitted CNG version produces 70 PS and 102 Nm, with a claimed efficiency of 33.61 km/kg. Interestingly, the Baleno now gets a CNG-AMT combination, giving buyers an automatic option with a factory-fitted CNG powertrain.
Updated Design and New Features
The exterior changes are evolutionary rather than radical. The facelift gets a larger front grille, revised bumpers, updated alloy wheels and a shark-fin antenna. The overall silhouette and familiar LED lighting design have been retained.
Inside, the cabin layout remains largely familiar, but Maruti has added several premium features. These include ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger and an upgraded Clarion sound system. The existing equipment list includes a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, head-up display, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 360-degree camera.
Level 2 ADAS and Safety Upgrades
Safety is another major focus of the new Baleno. The facelift introduces Level 2 ADAS, along with a tyre pressure monitoring system. The safety package also includes six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
Price and Rivals
The 2026 Maruti Baleno is currently priced from Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Sigma petrol-manual variant, while prices for higher variants are yet to be announced. Bookings are open for Rs 11,000.
The updated Baleno continues to compete with the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza. With the new engine, CNG-AMT option, ventilated seats and Level 2 ADAS, the facelift gives Maruti’s premium hatchback a stronger package for buyers looking for efficiency, convenience and added safety.
