Genesis has unveiled the GV90, its new flagship electric SUV and one of the most ambitious models in the luxury brand’s portfolio. Positioned above the GV80, the full-size electric SUV combines a three-row cabin with powerful dual-motor performance, advanced technology and an ultra-luxurious interior. Genesis is expected to enter the Indian market in 2027, and the GV90 could follow as a flagship offering around 2028.
Genesis GV90 Design and Luxury Features
The GV90 takes strong inspiration from the Genesis Neolun concept showcased in 2024. Its design features the brand’s signature two-line lighting treatment, a large and upright body, and a premium road presence aimed at the top end of the luxury SUV segment.
One of the most distinctive elements is the availability of coach-style rear doors on the more luxurious GV90 Neolun version. The design eliminates the conventional visible B-pillar while maintaining structural strength through reinforced construction. The Neolun variant is also offered with an executive-style four-seat layout focused on rear-seat comfort and luxury.
Inside, the GV90 is designed more like a luxury lounge than a conventional SUV. Features include rotating front seats, massaging seats, heated surfaces and premium materials. The dashboard gets a large 23.6-inch OLED display, while the cabin also offers an advanced audio system and Genesis’ Pleos Connect infotainment software.
Powerful Dual-Motor Electric Powertrain
The Genesis GV90 comes with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing 657 horsepower. The electric SUV is equipped with a 123.5kWh battery pack and an 800V electrical architecture.
Genesis claims the GV90 can deliver an estimated range of more than 300 miles, or over 480 km, depending on the testing standard and configuration. The SUV also supports 350kW DC fast charging, with a claimed 10 to 80 percent charging time of around 22 minutes under suitable conditions.
The performance package is complemented by air suspension and rear-wheel steering. These systems are designed to improve ride comfort while making the large SUV easier to manoeuvre in tighter spaces.
Advanced Safety and Technology
Genesis has also focused heavily on passenger protection and technology. The GV90 introduces several unusual features, including a roof-integrated airbag designed to provide additional protection in a rollover situation. The SUV also gets a large head-up display and advanced driver-assistance technologies.
The combination of luxury, technology and electric performance puts the GV90 in competition with premium electric SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and Range Rover Electric.
Genesis GV90 India Launch
Genesis has indicated plans to enter India in 2027, with the GV80 expected to be among the initial models considered for the market. The GV90 could arrive later as the brand expands its premium portfolio, with an India launch potentially taking place around 2028. However, Genesis has not yet confirmed an India-specific launch date or pricing for the GV90.
If introduced in India, the GV90 would become Genesis’ flagship electric SUV and could target buyers looking for a high-end alternative to established luxury electric SUVs. Its combination of long-range capability, powerful performance and first-class cabin technology could make it one of the most notable luxury EV launches to watch in the coming years.
