Honda Cars India July 2026 Sales: Domestic Sales Surge 48% YoY

Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has closed July 2026 on a strong note, posting a sharp 48% year-on-year jump in domestic sales. The automaker sold 6,014 units in the Indian market last month, up from just 4,050 units in July 2025. This kind of growth doesn’t happen often in a market as competitive as India’s, and it signals that Honda’s recent product moves are finally paying off.

Total sales for the month, which include both domestic dispatches and exports, stood at 8,284 units. Exports, however, told a different story, falling to 2,270 units from 3,474 units a year earlier. Even so, combined domestic and export sales still rose by around 10% compared to July 2025, showing that the home market more than made up for the dip overseas.

What’s Driving the Growth

Honda credits this turnaround to renewed customer interest across its lineup. The recently launched New Honda City and the newly introduced Honda ZR-V have clearly struck a chord with buyers, while older stalwarts like the Honda Elevate and Honda Amaze continue to hold their own in a crowded SUV and sedan segment.

Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India, said the company’s domestic growth reflects the positive momentum building across its portfolio. He pointed to the City and ZR-V as key contributors to renewed customer interest, adding that the Elevate and Amaze remain steady performers. With the festive season demand around the corner, Honda expects this momentum to carry forward in the coming months.

Where This Leaves Honda

Domestic sales made up nearly 73% of Honda’s total volume in July 2026, with exports contributing the remaining 27%. This shift toward the home market is notable, especially as rivals like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata Motors also posted strong domestic numbers during the same month. Maruti alone crossed 2 lakh units in domestic sales, while Hyundai recorded its highest-ever July sales.

For Honda, though, the story this month isn’t about matching the volume leaders, it’s about regaining ground after a few sluggish years in the Indian passenger vehicle space. The 48% domestic growth suggests that its refreshed lineup, anchored by the City and ZR-V, is starting to resonate with Indian buyers again.

With festive season sales typically giving automakers their biggest boost of the year, all eyes will be on whether Honda can sustain this momentum through August, September, and beyond.
