Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) closed July 2026 with total sales of 32,516 units, holding nearly steady against the 32,575 units it moved in July 2025. But that flat headline number hides a more interesting story underneath: while overall volumes dipped a marginal 0.18%, Toyota’s domestic business is actually accelerating, not slowing down.
Domestic Sales Lead the Growth
In the home market, Toyota sold 30,516 units in July 2026, up from 29,159 units a year earlier, a solid 5% year-on-year gain. That’s also a healthy jump from June 2026, when domestic sales stood at 28,441 units, translating into a 7.3% month-on-month improvement. The Innova Hycross, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Glanza continue to be the volume drivers behind this growth, reflecting steady consumer confidence in Toyota’s SUV and MPV lineup.
Exports Drag Down the Overall Total
The soft spot in July’s numbers came from exports, which fell sharply by 41.45% to just 2,000 units, down from 3,416 units in July 2025. This decline in overseas shipments is what kept Toyota’s total sales figure nearly flat despite strong domestic momentum.

FY2027 Cumulative Performance
Looking at the bigger picture, Toyota’s domestic sales for the April-July 2026 period touched 1,19,690 units, a 9.08% increase over the 1,09,725 units sold in the same stretch last year. On a broader January-July basis, cumulative domestic dispatches climbed 13% year-on-year to 233,854 units, underlining that Toyota’s India growth story has legs well beyond a single month’s numbers.
The Hilux Enters the Picture
July also marked a notable product milestone: the launch of the all-new, ninth-generation Toyota Hilux in India. The refreshed pickup arrives with an updated exterior, a redesigned cabin, and, for the first time, a 4×2 automatic variant meant to make the lifestyle pickup segment more accessible. Pricing starts at Rs 31.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and tops out at Rs 36.69 lakh. Commenting on the month’s performance, Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business at TKM, noted that the steady July numbers reflect sustained customer trust in the brand, with the Hilux further strengthening Toyota’s SUV and pickup portfolio in India.
Wrapping Up
Toyota’s July 2026 report card tells a two-track story: a resilient, growing domestic market offset by a weaker export segment. With FY2027 domestic sales already up nearly 9%, and a fresh product like the Hilux widening its lineup, Toyota looks well-positioned to keep its India growth trajectory intact through the rest of the year.
