Kia Sorento Mileage: Official Figures Confirmed

Kia has officially confirmed the fuel-efficiency figures for the new Sorento SUV in India, giving buyers a clearer idea of its running costs. The three-row premium SUV was launched in the country recently with both diesel and petrol-hybrid powertrain options, and the claimed mileage varies depending on the engine and drivetrain configuration.

The Kia Sorento is offered with two engine choices in India. The first is a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a hybrid system and a six-speed automatic transmission. The second is a 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The hybrid version is available with both 2WD and 4WD configurations, while the diesel can also be specified with either drivetrain.

According to the officially confirmed figures, the Sorento hybrid 2WD returns a claimed mileage of 19.60 km/l. The hybrid 4WD version delivers 17.70 km/L. This makes the front-wheel-drive hybrid the most fuel-efficient version in the Sorento range.

The diesel variants offer slightly lower claimed efficiency. The diesel 2WD version is rated at 17.66 km/L, while the diesel 4WD variant returns 15.79 km/L. The difference is understandable given the additional mechanical components and increased weight associated with the four-wheel-drive system.

The Sorento measures 4,815mm in length and has a 2,820mm wheelbase, while Kia offers it in six- and seven-seat layouts depending on the variant. The SUV is positioned as Kia India’s flagship model and is locally manufactured at the company’s Anantapur facility.

Prices for the Kia Sorento start at Rs. 27.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with the range extending across multiple variants. The SUV also gets features such as advanced driver assistance technology, premium interior equipment and the option of four-wheel drive on selected versions.

The official mileage figures provide an important reference for buyers considering the Sorento, although real-world fuel economy can vary with traffic, driving style, road conditions, passenger load and use of the air conditioner. The hybrid’s 19.60 km/L claimed figure gives it a notable efficiency advantage within the Sorento lineup.
