Mahindra Vision S New Rear Details Spotted

Mahindra’s upcoming Vision S-based SUV has been spotted testing again in India, revealing fresh details about its rear design. The latest spy images show a new tail-light arrangement that appears closer to the production version than the temporary setup seen on earlier test mules. The new design also gives the compact SUV a noticeable visual connection with Mahindra’s Scorpio family.

New Rear Lighting Design

The biggest change is the placement of the rear lamps. The latest Vision S prototype features slim vertical tail lamps integrated into the rear pillars, positioned alongside the rear windscreen. Each lamp appears to use stacked horizontal red lighting elements.

This arrangement looks similar in concept to the vertical rear lighting seen on the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio-N, although the shape and detailing are different. Earlier Vision S test vehicles were seen with temporary lighting units, making this latest setup an important indication of how Mahindra could style the production SUV.

The 2025 Vision S concept had a different rear treatment, with its main lighting elements positioned lower on either side of the spare wheel. The concept also showed vertical light strips near the rear glass, but these were mounted on an external structure rather than being directly integrated into the rear pillars.

Spare Wheel and Rear Profile

The latest prototype continues to show a rugged rear profile, although the arrangement appears to have evolved from the original concept. Earlier production-oriented test mules were spotted with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, reinforcing the SUV’s upright and adventure-focused character.

The new spy shot also provides a clearer look at the tyres. The test vehicle is fitted with 235/70-section tyres on 16-inch wheels. A glimpse of the rear suspension is visible as well, although its exact configuration cannot be confirmed from the spy images alone.

Expected Launch and Platform

The Vision S is based on Mahindra’s flexible NU_IQ platform, which has been designed to support different SUV sizes and powertrain configurations. Earlier sightings have also pointed towards a diesel powertrain, while an EV version remains a possibility because of the platform’s flexibility.

Mahindra’s Vision series is expected to enter production from 2027. The Vision S is shaping up as a compact, rugged SUV with design cues from Mahindra’s existing models while retaining its own identity. More details about its final styling, features and powertrain are expected as testing progresses.
