Audi is preparing to introduce the third-generation Q3 in India, marking an important step in the German luxury carmaker’s upcoming product strategy. The new Audi Q3 has already been showcased in India and is expected to go on sale during the 2026 festive season. It will become one of the key models in Audi India’s refreshed SUV portfolio.
The Q3 has traditionally played an important role for Audi in India. Its relatively compact dimensions, premium cabin and SUV body style have made it an attractive entry point into the Audi range. With the new-generation model, the company is looking to make the Q3 more modern, technologically advanced and competitive against newer rivals.
A Major Design Change
The new Audi Q3 gets a significantly different exterior compared with the outgoing model. It features a wider grille, split LED headlamps and a sharper overall design. At the rear, split tail-lamps connected by an LED light bar give the SUV a more distinctive appearance.
The new Q3 is also larger than its predecessor, measuring 4,531mm in length, 1,859mm in width and 1,623mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,681mm. The increased dimensions should provide a more substantial road presence while improving cabin space.
More Premium and Digital Interior
One of the biggest upgrades is inside the cabin. The new Q3 moves away from the relatively familiar interior of the outgoing model and gets a much more technology-focused dashboard.
It is expected to feature a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with an 11.9-inch digital driver display. Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, Sonos audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera and a powered tailgate.
This technology upgrade could be particularly important as buyers in the luxury SUV segment increasingly expect large displays and connected features as standard.
Petrol Engine and Quattro AWD
For India, the new Q3 is expected to continue with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 204hp and 320Nm. The engine is expected to be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
Audi claims a 0-100kph acceleration time of around 7.1 seconds for this powertrain. The combination of strong performance and all-wheel drive should remain one of the Q3’s major selling points in the Indian market.
What the Q3 Means for Audi India
The new Q3 arrives at an important time for Audi India. The company has confirmed a wider product offensive, with the Q3 set to be followed by models such as the A5 and Q9. This makes the Q3 more than just a routine model replacement; it is an important part of Audi’s effort to strengthen its presence in India.
The new SUV will continue to compete with the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA. With its updated design, richer technology and Quattro AWD, Audi will be hoping the Q3 can attract both existing Audi customers and buyers considering their first luxury SUV.
Pricing is expected to be announced closer to its market launch, with estimates currently placing the new Q3 around the Rs 50 lakh-plus mark, ex-showroom.
Overall, the new Audi Q3 could become a crucial model for Audi India. Its combination of fresh styling, a modern cabin, strong petrol performance and all-wheel drive gives the company a much-needed opportunity to strengthen its position in India’s competitive entry-level luxury SUV segment.
