Hyundai is preparing to expand its electric vehicle portfolio in India with a new India-specific electric SUV scheduled to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2026. The upcoming model is expected to target the high-volume segment and could become one of Hyundai’s most important EV launches for the Indian market.
According to recent reports, the new Hyundai EV is expected to offer a claimed driving range of more than 500km on a single charge. It will also bring advanced features such as Level 2 ADAS and Hyundai’s next-generation Pleos infotainment technology. Hyundai has not yet revealed the name, battery capacity or complete specifications of the upcoming SUV.
New Hyundai EV Expected to Launch in Q4 2026
The upcoming electric SUV is being developed and localised specifically for India. Hyundai is targeting the high-volume market with this model, suggesting that it could be positioned below the company’s more premium electric offerings.
A claimed range of over 500km would make the new EV suitable for both daily urban driving and longer highway journeys. However, the final certified range, battery size and charging performance are expected to be announced closer to the launch.
The company is yet to reveal the SUV’s design or dimensions, so its exact positioning within Hyundai’s growing India lineup remains unclear.
Level 2 ADAS to Bring More Advanced Safety
One of the major highlights of the new Hyundai EV will be its Level 2 ADAS technology. This should bring a range of driver-assistance functions designed to reduce driver workload in situations such as highway driving and heavy traffic.
Hyundai has not disclosed the complete ADAS feature list for the India-specific EV. Therefore, features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance and other advanced functions should be treated as expectations until the company officially confirms them.
The addition of Level 2 ADAS could nevertheless give the upcoming EV a strong technology advantage in an increasingly competitive electric SUV market.
Pleos Technology Will Upgrade the Cabin
The new EV is also expected to feature Hyundai’s next-generation Pleos infotainment technology. Hyundai has been introducing Pleos Connect as part of its newer connected-car strategy.
The recently introduced IONIQ 3, for example, uses Pleos Connect based on Android Automotive OS, with features focused on navigation, connectivity and a more integrated infotainment experience. Hyundai has also linked its latest technology package with advanced driver assistance and digital vehicle functions.
For the upcoming Indian EV, Pleos could bring a more connected and software-focused cabin, although Hyundai has not yet confirmed the exact hardware or software specifications.
Part of Hyundai’s Larger India Strategy
The new electric SUV will be part of Hyundai’s broader product expansion in India. The automaker plans to introduce 26 new models or major updates in the country by 2030, alongside greater electrification across its portfolio.
Hyundai is also planning to increase its manufacturing capacity in India and expand local sourcing. This strategy could help the company offer more locally developed and competitively priced electric vehicles in the coming years.
With a claimed range of more than 500km, Level 2 ADAS and Pleos technology, the upcoming Hyundai EV could become a significant addition to the brand’s Indian lineup. More details about its battery, powertrain, pricing and design are expected to emerge ahead of its Q4 2026 launch.
