Renault India has launched the much-awaited Triber Turbo in the country, addressing one of the compact MPV’s key limitations — its relatively modest performance. The new Renault Triber Turbo is priced from Rs. 7.84 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in three variants. With a turbo-petrol engine, updated platform and revised mechanical components, the Triber now offers more performance while retaining its practical seven-seat layout.
The Renault Triber Turbo is powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TCe turbo-petrol engine producing 100 PS and 180 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox at launch. According to Renault, the turbo version delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl, making it an interesting combination of performance and efficiency for a family-focused MPV.
Renault Triber Turbo Price and Variants
The new turbo-petrol engine is offered in the Evolution, Techno, and Emotion variants. Prices start at Rs. 7.84 lakh and go up to Rs. 8.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
| Variant | Turbo Petrol MT Price |
|---|---|
| Triber Evolution | Rs. 7.84 lakh |
| Triber Techno | Rs. 8.53 lakh |
| Triber Emotion | Rs. 8.99 lakh |
The turbo variants command a premium over their naturally aspirated counterparts, while the regular 1.0-litre petrol engine continues to be available with manual and AMT options.
New RGEP Platform and Mechanical Updates
The Triber Turbo is the first Renault model in India to use the company’s Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP). This platform has allowed Renault to integrate the turbocharged engine along with changes to the suspension, braking system, thermal management and electronic control systems.
The car also receives revised suspension tuning, updated anti-roll bars, and recalibrated ABS, traction control, and vehicle dynamic control systems. These changes are aimed at improving stability and drivability with the more powerful engine.
Features and Practicality
Apart from the new powertrain and engineering updates, the Triber continues with its practical cabin and flexible seating arrangement. Depending on the variant, features include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging and cruise control.
Safety equipment includes six airbags, TPMS, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
With the Triber Turbo, Renault has added a significantly more powerful engine to one of India’s most affordable seven-seat vehicles. The new version could appeal to buyers who want the Triber’s practicality but need stronger performance for highway driving and fully loaded family trips.
