2026 Maruti Baleno Facelift Launch on 5 September

Maruti Suzuki is preparing to give its popular premium hatchback another update. The 2026 Maruti Baleno facelift is set to launch in India on September 5, 2026. The updated model has already been spotted testing on Indian roads, with spy images offering clues about the changes expected on the new version.

The Baleno is currently in its second-generation avatar, which was introduced in 2022. The upcoming facelift is expected to bring styling and equipment upgrades rather than a completely new design. This should help Maruti Suzuki keep the hatchback competitive in a segment that includes the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza.

Revised Exterior Design

The biggest changes are expected at the front of the 2026 Maruti Baleno facelift. Spy shots suggest that the car could receive a redesigned grille featuring a horizontal bar connecting the headlights. The front bumper is also expected to get a new design, while the existing boomerang-shaped LED DRLs could continue.

The side profile is likely to remain largely familiar, although the facelift could receive newly designed alloy wheels. At the rear, a revised bumper is expected, while the existing tail-light design, roof spoiler and rear wiper could be carried forward.

More Features Inside the Cabin

The cabin is also expected to receive a few updates. Test cars indicate that the basic dashboard layout could remain similar to the current Baleno, but Maruti may introduce fresh upholstery and updated trim elements.

A single-pane sunroof and ambient lighting are among the features expected to be added to make the Baleno feel more premium. The existing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and other technology features could continue, although the final equipment list will be revealed closer to the launch.

Engine Options Likely to Continue

Unlike some recent Maruti updates, the Baleno facelift is not expected to receive major mechanical changes. Reports suggest that the familiar 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine could continue producing around 90hp, with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options.

The CNG version is also expected to remain part of the lineup, with the current setup producing around 77.5hp and available with a manual gearbox.

Expected Price and Rivals

The current Baleno is priced from around Rs 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom, and the facelift is expected to command a modest premium because of its styling and feature upgrades.

With its September 5 launch date approaching, the 2026 Maruti Baleno facelift could become an important update for buyers looking for a practical premium hatchback with familiar engines, improved styling and additional features. More details on variants, pricing and equipment are expected to be announced at the official launch.
