JSW Motors is preparing to introduce its upcoming electric SUV based on the Chery iCaur V23 in India, and a fresh patent filing has revealed more details about the India-spec model. The SUV is expected to become one of the early products under JSW Motors’ independent passenger vehicle plans and could arrive in the coming months.
India-Spec iCaur V23 Gets Design Changes
The latest patent images show that the overall boxy and upright shape of the iCaur V23 remains largely unchanged. However, JSW’s version gets several styling differences compared with the international model.
At the front, the SUV features circular LED headlamps with integrated DRLs and black surrounds. The closed-off grille has been redesigned, while the front bumper appears similar to the global-spec model. The side profile continues with flared wheel arches, chunky body cladding and integrated side steps.
A new alloy wheel design is visible in the patent images. Another interesting detail is a rectangular element positioned between the C- and D-pillars, which is not seen on the international version. The patent also shows a panoramic sunroof, potentially giving the India-spec SUV an additional premium feature.
At the rear, the design appears largely unchanged, including the slim LED tail-lights and tailgate-mounted storage box.
Interior Expected to Remain Similar
The India-spec JSW iCaur V23 is expected to retain the basic dashboard design of the international model. The global SUV uses a minimalist cabin with a large 15.4-inch touchscreen that also handles the driver’s instrumentation instead of a conventional separate instrument cluster.
Other expected elements include a three-spoke steering wheel, rotary controls below the touchscreen, a five-seat layout and leatherette upholstery. JSW could introduce a different cabin theme and seat upholstery for the Indian market.
AWD Version Could Come to India
Internationally, the iCaur V23 is available with 59.93kWh and 81.76kWh battery packs. The smaller battery is paired with a rear-mounted motor producing 134hp and 180Nm, while the larger battery is offered with a dual-motor AWD setup producing 208hp and 292Nm.
The international model claims up to 360km and 430km of NEDC range, respectively. Sources indicate that JSW could bring the dual-motor AWD version to India, although final specifications have not yet been confirmed.
The upcoming SUV is expected to target buyers looking for a rugged-looking electric vehicle, with models such as the Mahindra Thar Roxx and Force Gurkha 5-door forming part of its broader positioning. An expected price around ₹20 lakh has been reported, but JSW Motors has yet to confirm the final price and launch details.
Overall, the fresh patent gives a clearer picture of what could become one of JSW Motors’ most distinctive upcoming electric SUVs for India.
