JSW Motors 4 SUVs by October 2027: Jetour T2 PHEV

JSW Motors is preparing for a major entry into India’s passenger vehicle market with an ambitious plan to introduce four new-energy vehicles by October 2027. The company is expected to begin passenger vehicle sales in early 2027, while its first model is likely to arrive around the festive season of 2026.

The first product is expected to be a rugged SUV based on the Jetour T2, which will be introduced in India as a JSW-branded model. The SUV has already been spotted testing on Indian roads, indicating that development, testing, and homologation activities are progressing.

Jetour T2 PHEV to Be the First JSW SUV

The Jetour T2-based SUV is expected to use a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Internationally, the T2 i-DM uses a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine combined with electric motors. The system can produce strong performance while also allowing the SUV to operate on electric power for shorter daily journeys.

Reports suggest that the Indian-spec version could produce around 381hp and 610Nm, making it one of the most powerful plug-in hybrid SUVs in its expected price segment. The SUV is also expected to offer a substantial combined driving range, although final Indian specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.

The T2 is known for its upright, rugged styling and off-road-inspired design. This could help JSW Motors create a distinctive identity in India rather than entering the market with a conventional family SUV.

Four New Models Planned by October 2027

JSW Motors is not planning to depend on a single product. The company reportedly plans to introduce at least four new-energy vehicles by October 2027, covering different powertrain technologies including plug-in hybrids, strong hybrids, range-extender vehicles and battery-electric models.

The second model is expected to arrive in 2027, with additional SUVs following as JSW expands its portfolio. The company is targeting a broad price range of approximately Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, which would allow it to compete across multiple SUV segments.

Local Production to Help Control Costs

The Jetour T2-based SUV is expected to be assembled at JSW Motors’ upcoming manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. Local assembly should help the company manage production costs and gradually increase localisation as its Indian operations expand.

With the Indian market showing growing interest in hybrids and premium SUVs, JSW Motors’ decision to begin with a PHEV could give it a different positioning from brands focused mainly on petrol, diesel or pure electric vehicles.

More details regarding pricing, variants, features and the exact launch timeline are expected to emerge closer to the official introduction. If JSW can combine the T2’s rugged character with competitive pricing and strong hybrid technology, its first SUV could attract considerable attention in India’s rapidly expanding electrified SUV market.
