Kia India has finally given SUV enthusiasts something to get excited about. The carmaker has released an official teaser of the upcoming Sorento, and along with it, pre-bookings have opened for interested customers across the country.
Kia India has officially teased the upcoming Sorento ahead of its highly anticipated launch, while also opening pre-bookings for a token amount of Rs. 25,000. This is a big moment for the brand, since the Sorento will mark a significant milestone as Kia’s first hybrid SUV in India, adding a premium new option to its growing lineup.
Even though the SUV is still under wraps, the teaser gives away quite a bit. It reveals the SUV’s upright stance, muscular proportions, and modern design language, with a distinctive two-tier LED lighting signature up front that complements a bold grille and sculpted bonnet. Reports also mention prominent roof rails and a long, imposing profile, giving the Sorento serious road presence.
On the powertrain front, things look promising too. The India-spec SUV is expected to use the same 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong-hybrid setup available overseas, producing 238hp and 380Nm, with power sourced from a 1.49kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack and a six-speed automatic transmission handling gear shifts. An all-wheel-drive option is also expected on higher variants, which would make the Sorento one of the few hybrid SUVs in its segment offering AWD, a genuine rival to the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and Volkswagen Tayron.
As for pricing, Kia hasn’t confirmed anything officially yet, but early estimates are already doing the rounds. Industry sources expect Kia to price the Sorento at around Rs 40 lakh, ex-showroom, though some earlier reports had pegged it slightly lower, between ₹30 lakh and ₹35 lakh, depending on how it’s localised.
If you’re keen on getting your hands on one early, pre-bookings can be done through your nearest Kia dealership or via the brand’s official website for the token amount of Rs. 25,000. The exact launch date, variant lineup, and final pricing are expected to be announced closer to the official unveiling, likely later this year.
