Tata Motors has released a new teaser of the upcoming Tata Aeris ahead of its official launch in India on September 25, 2026. The new compact sedan will replace the Tigor in Tata Motors’ sub-4-metre sedan range and is expected to bring a refreshed design, updated equipment and a familiar petrol powertrain.
The latest teaser gives a closer look at the Aeris’ lighting elements and alloy wheel design. The sedan gets redesigned headlamps and tail-lights, with the lighting signature appearing to draw inspiration from the updated Tiago. The rear lighting setup does not appear to feature a full-width connected light bar. The teaser also shows newly designed alloy wheels, adding to the visual changes expected with the new model.
Tata Aeris 1.2-Litre Petrol Engine Confirmed
One of the key details confirmed ahead of the launch is the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. According to current reports, the engine produces around 84 bhp and 113 Nm of torque and is expected to continue with both a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox.
A CNG powertrain is also expected to remain part of the Aeris range. The CNG version of the existing setup produces around 72 bhp and 96.5 Nm and is offered with manual and AMT transmission options. Tata Motors is yet to reveal the complete Aeris powertrain and variant details officially.
More Than Just a Tigor Facelift
Although the Aeris is based on the Tigor, Tata Motors appears to have made several styling changes. Earlier teasers and design information point towards a sharper front-end design, slimmer LED headlamps, LED fog lamps and revised bumpers. The sedan is also expected to retain the Tigor’s notchback-style roofline while receiving updated body panels.
The cabin is expected to receive updates inspired by the recently refreshed Tiago. Reported equipment could include a larger touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, Type-C charging ports, rear AC vents, automatic climate control and a 360-degree camera. These features, however, remain subject to final confirmation from Tata Motors.
Tata Aeris Launch Date and Expected Rivals
The Tata Aeris is scheduled to make its official debut on September 25, 2026. It will continue Tata’s presence in the compact sedan segment and is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze. Official prices and variant details are expected to be announced at the launch.
With the latest teaser confirming the 1.2-litre petrol engine, the focus now shifts to the Aeris’ final features, variants and pricing. More details should become clear when Tata Motors officially unveils the sedan later this week.
