Toyota is preparing to expand its product portfolio in India with major updates to two of its well-known models, the Glanza and Fortuner. The Glanza facelift is expected to arrive in the coming months, while the next-generation Fortuner is likely to make its India debut towards the end of 2026 or early 2027.
Toyota Glanza Facelift Expected Soon
The Toyota Glanza is set to receive a significant mid-life update, bringing changes to its styling, cabin, and feature list. The facelift is expected to follow the latest Baleno update, with Toyota adding several new technologies to make the premium hatchback more competitive.
One of the biggest expected upgrades is Level 2 ADAS. The system could bring features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic high-beam assistance. This would give the Glanza a major advantage in the premium hatchback segment.
The updated Glanza is also expected to receive a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. Reports suggest that the engine could produce around 83 hp and 112 Nm, with 5-speed manual and AMT options. A factory-fitted CNG version is also expected, with slightly lower power and torque outputs.
Inside, Toyota could introduce features such as ventilated front seats, a wireless smartphone charger, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a head-up display, and a 360-degree camera. The Glanza facelift is currently expected around October 2026 according to some reports, although other industry trackers suggest a later launch window.
New-Generation Toyota Fortuner
The bigger development will be the arrival of the next-generation Toyota Fortuner. Unlike a regular facelift, the new model is expected to receive a comprehensive redesign and several technology upgrades.
The next Fortuner is expected to adopt Toyota’s latest global design language, featuring a larger grille, slimmer LED lighting and a more muscular overall appearance. The SUV could also receive an extensively redesigned cabin with larger digital displays, an electronic parking brake, electric power steering and a panoramic sunroof.
Powertrain changes are also expected. Reports suggest that the familiar 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine could continue, potentially paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This setup should help improve low-speed response while also supporting better fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Level 2 ADAS features are also expected on the new-generation SUV.
With the Fortuner facing increasing competition from models such as the MG Majestor and the newly launched Kia Sorento, Toyota’s next-generation SUV will be an important product for the company.
For now, Toyota has not officially announced the final launch dates or specifications of either model. More details are expected to emerge closer to their respective launches.
